Silky Saws Gomboy 240mm | Curved | Outback Edition (752-24)

$100.00

The Silky Outback Edition hand saws feature a handle made of arbor composite, which provides excellent grip and control for wet, cold and game-processing conditions. The blade can cut bone and wood, and is black-plated with a nickel/tin blend to improve durability and reduce reflection for stealth, low-impact activities.

  • BLADE LENGTH: 240mm Curved
  • TEETH PITCH: 8 (6.8 tpi)
  • WEIGHT: 0.63 lbs (288g)
  • NON-SET TEETH: Taper ground to reduce resistance for smoother, easier and faster cutting.
  • IMPULSE-HARDENED: The teeth of the blade are heated and hardened to stay sharp three times longer than non-hardened teeth.
  • MIRAI-ME: Featuring 4 cutting angles along the blade for rip-cutting, cross-cutting and slant cutting, leaving a smooth surface every time.
  • BLACK PLATING: Blacking plating allows entire blade, including the teeth, to be coated with a unique, highly durable Nickel / Tin blend. It provides longer blade life and improved cutting performance.

Hot Knife Through Butter

I used to use an electric reciprocating saw to cut honeysuckle but this thing is awesome. Way faster and way easier. It is like a hot knife through butter.

Quality

I'm impressed with the build quality, the blade is unreal. It will cut like butter. The carrying case is a little finicky. Recommend this for a bug out bag.

Composite handles not as good as rubber ones

My new Gomboy Outback came with a composite handle instead of the rubber handles that all my other Silkys have. It is slightly narrower in the middle of the handle and flat instead of gently rounded like the rubber handles. This makes for a less full grip for me when I'm cutting with it. I never understand why a company that makes a really good product decides to tinker with it and almost always makes it less functional. It must be that composite is cheaper than rubber and that's why the change happened. Too bad. I really like the firm grip of the rubber and feel I have a slip-proof hold of the saw. The saw cuts great like all my Silkys but I deducted a star for the different and less efficient handle. As the man says: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
